Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Storm[link]
Song consisting of 4 movements:
1. lift yr. skinny fists, like antennas to heaven... (00:00 - 06:15)
2. gathering storm (06:15 - 17:25)
3. "welcome to barco am/pm..." [l.a.x.; 5/14/00] (17:25 - 18:40) 4. cancer towers on holy road hi-way (18:40 - 22:32)
Taken during in the morning of the sandstorm. The combination of sand, wind and smog created a fascinating texture, and the desolate building being constructed in the horizon just added to the scene. So after a few angles and shots this was the final result.
This photo was hanging around in my photo folder for close to a week now. In my head a combination of tunes played when I was taking it and I just couldnt make out any tune. So I left it around till I was unable to sleep last night and realised I havent listened to GSY!BE in a while. So popped cd, and at the end of Storm it hit me, that omnious final call boming ALL ABOARD as a most simple and haunting organ starts playing. And as you listen people's footsteps answering the call you hear this nonsensical speech by what seems to be a preacher trying to warn them, but his voice is completely shrouded in a wave of drones and zombie like grumbles. That's exactly how I felt rubbing my eyes early in the morning and seeing this colosuss wave of smog and sand revolving in the sky and the only thing visible in the horzion is a cancer tower shooting upwards towards a vacant heavens, while everyone was hidden out of sight in their canyons. It's so ugly. Can you imagine waking up to a sight like this every single day?
While spinning this album for for the 10th time last night I looked out of the window. No stars. Blocks blocking everything. So I went to the roof in hopes of seeing something different. No luck. These cancer towers and lights overpower even the stars.
I miss going out at 4 am and laying on the wet grass of a nearby field and staring at the milky way. I doubt anyone here as seen it. How sad is that? Almost no one here has seen something as lush and beautiful.
Modern world Im not pleased to meet you, all you do is serve to bring us down
it's a long, long story. Some bad, some good, bad outweighting the good. Uni and family problems had me go back to the UAE, then I escaped to Malaysia. (cheap, natural, and most important of all; not the UAE)
thank you so much for your kind words. It makes me so happy to know my work can leave a mark on someone. Your gallery is terrific, and I love the way it radiates such emotions. and yes, i am a student
I am a student at the University of Illinois, in Champaign-Urbana. I study Art Education and Painting here. I am 21 years old. I hope to travel everywhere. I also love Egon Schiele. My name is Eve. Your turn.
It's a pleasure to meet you Eve. I'm a student Multimedia Univeristy in Melaka, Malaysia. I just moved here 3 months ago. Used to study in Louisian State Univeristy before that. Im majoring in business management, hoping to start a record label and run my own jazz club. Im 21 years old too, and I also want to roam aimlessly around the globe. My name is mohamed, but please, call me moe
and egon schiele is everything heavenly and passionate. I grined when I read that in your profile. Have you ever heard of Rachel's - Music For Egon Schiele? It's a chamber music/ classical record made for a pla about Schiele's life. I think you will enjoy it quite a bit. I'm uploading it for you as we speak.
Your link for Rachel's music did not work for me because I needed a password, but I looked the record up and I listened to snatches of all of the songs and I did like it. It gave me goosebumps. the few amount of musicians made a very powerful and intense sound. I have played the violin for a long time and just recently stopped playing so much in the past few years, and I always miss the sound of string instruments. I am very sad that I have stopped playing.
I would love to see the play/dance production that the music was written for. I saw that the company that put it on is in Chicago = that is very close. If they ever do it again I will definately go see it. Thank you for telling me about Rachel's music.
