self inflicted
injury

despite the knowledge
that our hearts
were never built
durable
we continue to
place them at
the front line
and pursuing
love with a
blind and
unyielding
determination
that is

admirable
if it werent
for the fact it
equally as idiotic.

sitting on the couch watching
godzilla flicks.
taking a picture
together at
the beach
as the sunset
illuminates our
grins.

glorious moments
bound to
shatter

cause I've got a
knife
and so do
you

it's merely
a matter of
time when
one of
us
will strike
the
other

and judging by
past performances
and taking into account
how history adores
repeating itself
